From our skilled care team in the Health Care Center and Assisted Living facilities, to the helpful individuals providing our support services, our staff provides care focused on our residents’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Kevin is the President & CEO at Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community. Kevin received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI and a Master's degree in Health Services Administration from George Washington University, Washington, DC.
He is passionate about serving seniors and has been actively involved with LeadingAge Washington in various officer roles and currently Chair of the Continuing Care Retirement Community Task Force and Treasurer. Kevin and his wife Cindy enjoy traveling the world and cheering for their four children on volleyball courts, basketball courts, baseball fields and beyond.
Pete joined TLRC in June 1995 as a Human Resources Consultant, and became Director of Employee Relations in January 1999. In October 2013, Pete attained his Nursing Home Administrator license and transitioned to responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer/Administrator. Pete is a certified mediator and ordained pastor. He is a graduate of the inaugural class of the Ecumenical Leadership Institute and later returned to serve as faculty.
Pete is a graduate of George Williams College in Illinois with a Bachelor ’s degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences and a Master ’s degree in Administration of Human and Community Services. Pete and his wife Terry live in Lakewood and have four children and one grandchild. His spare time is filled with music, hiking, church service and family events.
Prior to joining Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community, David served in a similar role for a retail energy division of a Fortune 200 company here in the Tacoma area. He received his accounting degree and MBA from St. Martin’s University. David also served in the military for four years as a tank gunner and reconnaissance scout.
David also serves as a financial advisor for many local and state wide agencies and other not for profit companies. In his spare time, David enjoys golfing, playing softball and spending time with his wife, Margo, and his four children.
Dawn England has been with TLRC since November 2017 working as the Director of Information Technology. Dawn has over 35 years’ experience in Information Technology and Workforce Management. Dawn’s training and certifications span multiple IT platforms including IBM Mainframe, Microsoft, Sun, VAX, Cisco, Macintosh, Android and various telephone platforms.
Her workforce training and certifications include Frontline Management, Diversity Champion, Project Management and Lean Six Sigma principles. Dawn’s IT management expertise ensures that TLRC has consistent, robust information technology connectivity and support to meet resident and staff needs. When Dawn is not working she loves to be at home gardening, cooking, baking, crocheting and playing with her dogs and chickens.
Denise Cooksey has been with TLRC since February 2003 and leads the Employee Relations team, providing employee support, services and resources such as payroll and benefits, policies and procedures, safety and compliance and much more. Denise and her team are dedicated to serving our amazing employees who work so hard to care for our residents.
Denise has served on the Pierce County Healthcare Career Council and has completed mediation training with Pierce County Center for Dispute Resolution. She also has her HR certifications with SHRM and HRCI. Denise loves camping with her family and friends and is an avid Seahawks fan!
Kristine Grant, LPN, has worked in a variety of nursing positions from Charge Nurse to the Assistant Director of Nursing Services. She oversees the Admissions team, advertising, and works closely with the nursing team to support continued quality care and service to those we serve in the community.
She is involved in partnership committees with area hospitals, is a member of Leading Age Washington, the Pierce County Care Transition Team and Health Care Providers of Pierce County. She most recently has earned her certificate to be an Assisted Living Executive Director. Outside of TLRC, Kristine enjoys time with her family, cheering on events where her children are involved including golf, basketball and auto racing.
Robin joined TLRC in October of 2015 with over 18 years of professional fundraising experience and non-profit development. Robin is practiced in assisting prospective donors achieve financial and personal goals through philanthropic efforts. Robin has a Bachelors degree from The Evergreen State College, in Olympia Washington. She served as Chair of the City of Tacoma’s Arts Commission for four years.
She is Co-Chair of Rotary 8 Finance Committee, Secretary of the South Sound Planned Giving Council, and a long-time volunteer for the arts. Robin is a certified responder for FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team in Tacoma. Robin and her husband live in Tacoma and enjoy hiking, live music, artistic and cultural events, and playing with the dog.
Theresa (Teri) Johnson, R.N. is the Director of Nursing Services. While new to TLRC, her experience is vast. She began her career in nursing as a Nursing Assistant and from there knew she wanted to do more. She became a LPN then continued on to become a Registered Nurse.
She has served as a Director of Nursing for almost 20 years and has worked as a Regional Nurse for 7 facilities. Teri’s love for seniors is reflected in her years of experience and is evident in her interactions with others. We are excited to have Teri lead our Nursing team in the years to come!
Amy Johnson graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. She began her career in long-term care facilities by volunteering as a group fitness instructor which led to her being hired on full time and assisting in activities.
Over the last 6 years, Amy’s passion and knowledge for senior living has grown tremendously. When not at work Amy enjoys spending time with her husband David and their 2 dogs, Maverick and Luna. They enjoy spending time outdoors, going on vacations and spending time with family and friends.
Ordained as a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Pastor Randy Olson has served as our Chaplain at TLRC since early 2011. A graduate of the University of Minnesota with a BA in Political Science, and Northwestern Lutheran Theological Seminary with an MDiv, Randy served congregations in the Pacific Northwest.
He is motivated by worship life, education and pastoral care, so serving as TLRC Chaplain fits him well. He and his wife, Jan, are active members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fircrest. They enjoy their four children, and of course, are happy grandparents of two granddaughters and two grandsons.
